Horizontal Frost Photos

Not sure if any of you realized, but due to a problem with Telus in BC, I've been denied access to all Blogger sites and Google Earth since last Thurs. At least 250 others have been affected as well. And yes, because we're using a satellite internet provider, our signal goes through BC.

So now that I'm back - I hope to stay - I'm going to show you some pics of what you missed.

We've been having foggy, frosted days. One day in particular, showed frost patterns I've never seen before. Here's how my van looked when I first went outside that day.

As you can see, about the only thing that's frosted is the antenna. I've never seen anything like it before. Here's a closeup of the horizontal frost crystals on the antenna.

The wind must've blown the frost in from the south because this is what some of the trees looked like from that direction.

And yet when we go a few steps further to the north and turn around this is was I saw.

The frost was so selective that it only became attached to the metal road in this pump and the weed growing in front of it.

I happened to look down and saw a cat's paw print and another mark, both of which had attracted the frost in different ways.

Now this is probably a loaded question, but has there been any weird weather down your way?

  1. Oh Anita, to see the world through your eyes this morning...I can't tell you what a blessing it is. I can see you with the camera, taking joy in wonder in the frost.

Where I live, weird weather is the norm. We have wild swings at this time of year. It's warming up...almost 50 degrees yesterday...but who knows. We could have a snowstorm next week, and the week after that 60, and the week after that, an ice storm.

But we leave for Florida in less than four weeks. God be praised!

God bless you this week, dear friend!

  3. we missed you Anita! hopefully you won't have any more issues. i absolutely LOVE the pictures you posted. the art the Lord provides us in nature is truly inspirational... i'm glad you've captured some of it.

it's definitely odd how the frost chose to grow on what it grew. never seen that before. as for weird weather... not so much around VA Beach - just unseasonably cold. we've gotten snow twice, which is rare for the VA Beach area - but does happen about once every ten years or so. travel about 30 miles from the area and snow falls every year - go figure. amazing what a few miles of geography can do for the weather.

welcome back to the 'net Lady!

  4. Sorry about your disconnect!
    I LOVE your gorgeous posts!!!

Weather this way is unseasonably warm and fog/rain. If my brain weren't fogged, I would like it.

    Blessings,
    Patti

  5. Hey Gwen, thanks for popping in. Weird weather is probably the norm for you because of being so close to the Great Lakes, though, eh?

I have to admit, I kinda envy your annual Florida trip. I've only been there once and couldn't get over those palm trees. :)

  7. Hey, thanks, Deb - and you know I didn't Photoshop these images either.

If you have different weather than 30 miles away, then I'm guessing there's either hills/mountains for a lake or other water source in between.

I never realized how much I rely on the blogs until I couldn't access it.

I need to email you ... soon...

  8. Hey Patti, can you believe I was on your site this am and started a comment and then my laptop locked up and I just realized now that I never went back and finished it? Oops. Going now.

  9. They are fantasic photos. It's nothing like what I see here in Australia. I think I was a teenager before I saw real snow. :)

  10. Hey Lynda, that makes me think of those Aussies we saw compete at the recent Olympics, especially Dale Beggs-Smith (I think that's his name). It seems so incongruous because I don't think of Australia as having mountains. Whenever I think on it, I think hot, deser-like outback or the TV show MacLeod's Daughters or something.

    Thanks for visiting me.
