What Caught My Eye This Week

The Canada geese are back.

Here's a pic of a gully I wrote about in one of my books.

This is how it looked on Wed...

And this is how it looked just 2 weeks ago.

This is an arm extending off the big Qu'Appelle Valley.

This is ice, but you can see how the water froze in a circular pattern.

Have you ever seen snow melt?

It just kind of recedes.

This was taken Thurs night.

Snow melting in the ditch.

If you look way up, you can see my first hawk sighting for 2009.

My first robin sighting of the year.

The mama's are watching over their babies.

Newborn bull calves gone exploring.

I stopped to take a pic of the bison and they turned to look at me.
What caught your eye this week?

  2. Great pics, Anita - don't you just love spring. And lucky you - we haven't spotted a robin yet, but the geese are back on the golf course. A sure sign of spring :)

    Happy Easter.

Question for you . . . I think I'm scheduled to blog over at Prairie Chicks this Saturday. I can't seem to find the original email we exchanged. This is what happens when you have too many email addys! I need to know where to send the blog : ) Thanks!

  7. Hey Vicki, Happy blessed Easter to you and your family as well.

Yes, you'll be an Honorary Prairie Chick this Sat, the 18th. I've very much looking forward to it although I hadn't realized I take my little guy to display his dinosaur coin collection and will be gone most of the day. I'll check in when I can and there will still be at least 4 chicks hanging around.

I don't like people who put blogs out without an email addy and I've just realized I'm one of them. Hmmpht! Thank you for bringing it to my attention.

Please send your copy and pics to me at:
    anitamaedraper [at] hotmail [dot] com.

I'm off to Easter dinner at SIL's but I'll be in touch soon.

    Blessings.

  8. Great photos, Anita! I am a U Sask alumnus, now living on the west coast. Love it here and never plan to leave, but seeing photos of the prairie landscape still makes me nostalgic.

Do you know what I miss most? Magpies. Smartest, sauciest birds ever. And so beautiful.

  9. Hey Lee, I haven't been able to get a pic of a magpie yet because they stay hidden in the spruce trees but I agree with you. I also love Ian Tyson's song about them. :)

You're from the prairies? My daughter is from here and is living in BC as well, but in Vancouver. We took her to the BC coast when she was small and she never forgot it.

    Thanks for visiting.

btw - we found a new tea store in Regina that absolutely puts the other one to shame. :)
